That is, I see a shell command like this: emacs -Q --batch --eval '(message "%s" (cos 0))' far more often than I see one like this: emacs -Q --batch --eval='(message "%s" (cos 0))' Although the latter form also works, I don't see any reason to recommend it to the former; quite the contrary, as the former is easier to type.
