I just did a complete clean download of the latest cvs source and
tried to build it.
Any idea of why the following error was produced:

Loading env...
Loading format...
Loading bindings...
Loading files...
Loading cus-face...
Loading faces...
Loading button...
Loading startup...
Lists of integers (garbage collection statistics) are normal output
while building Emacs; they do not indicate a problem.
((11337 . 8689) (4931 . 0) (574 . 12) 15915 19972 (11 . 7) (18 . 0) (821 . 2455))
Loading loaddefs.el (source)...
Symbol's value as variable is void: jka-compr-load-suffixes

There was a bug.
Please do a
cvs update
remove lisp/loaddefs.el
and try to bootstrap again.
