I've mostly just read the > implementation and thought it was sensible. It seems that the word "get rid of" is confusing. Emacs-unicode still keeps all latin-iso8859-X charsets. We can't get rid of them. Those charsets carry such information as how to map their code point to Unicode, what designation sequence to use to be encoded in iso-2022 base coding systems.
