I'm not sure what you mean. I think that's pretty much what we do. But the convention only specifies some aspect of the behavior. > Can you tell me the full list of behaviors of Emacs with Xaw3D? Depends how Xaw3d was compiled (with or without the -DARROW_SCROLLBAR (or somesuch) option). Without the -DARROW_SCROLLBAR it behaves like non-toolkit Emacs (and hence like Xaw scrollbars). With it, it behaves more like Motif. RedHat uses an Xaw3d compiled without -DARROW_SCROLLBAR while Debian compiles it with -DARROW_SCROLLBAR (last I heard). Stefan
