Now the user connects to a new machine which does not provide ssh but telnet. There could be various options to control autodetection; one could say whether to try telnet or not, and another could say whether to try ftp or not. People who want security could turn off autodetection's use of telnet and ftp. Then they would have to specify those methods explicitly when they want to use them. Perhaps the defaults should not include telnet or ftp, and you should have to request them explicitly when you want them.
