That could be a good point.

    My terminal supports faces (Linux console), but as a 
    blind braille user, it is quite unpleasant to work
    with face information.  So an option would be nice here.

It ought to be easy to turn off the feature by customizing the face
that it uses into a no-op.  The code could call
face-differs-from-default-p to decide which format to output.

Would that be ok?
