I believe I might have given an incorrect impression in my previous
message on one particular point.  We are talking about a rewrite of
mailabbrev.el, not a replacement with an entirely new package.  Most
of mailabbrev.el is kept, although there is a fundamental change in
the underlying mechanism and mailabbrev.el is moved sufficiently in
the direction of mailalias-sendmail to make a unified system very much
possible.  Due to the increased importance of .mailrc in the new
system, there is an entirely new file with functions to write
interactively into .mailrc, as well as to help edit .mailrc.
