This while running on the Linux console outside X in case that
matters.
After the latest CVS update, I see that visual-line-mode can now
be turned off, and is off by default -- that is
goodness. However, turning it off has no effect as far as I can
tell.
Test:
Create two lines in the *scratch* buffer like so:
this is a long line. this is a long line. this is a long line. this is a long line. this is a long line. this is a long line. this is a long line. this is a long line.
test
With point on the beginning of the initial long line, hit C-n --
point is left at col 79.
Hit C-n again, it moves to col 158.
Hit C-n again and it ends up on the short second line.
I really would like to have the option of using Emacs in its
traditional behavior --- and was hoping to be able to have C-n
and C-p move across lines --- how do I get that behavior?
