Subject: can't configure emacs 21.2   on Linux  RedHat 8

It seems like the "configure" script is not able to pick
up the X11 options ....  has anyone experinced this ??

see the results re X11 below ...

  Does Emacs use -ltiff?                                  no
  Does Emacs use -lungif?                                 no
  Does Emacs use -lpng?                                   no
  Does Emacs use X toolkit scroll bars?                   no


***  It seems like it did not find the X11 files, however the stuff
*** is all there  (in /usr/X11*, /usr/lib/X11*, /etc/X11*  etc)
