The docstring for next-error says:
See variables `compilation-parse-errors-function' and
`compilation-error-regexp-alist' for customization ideas.
However, compilation-parse-errors-function appears to be obsolete: it is
still supported by the compile package but only "for compatibility with
the old compile.el", and it is not documented.
I suggest that the docstring for next-error be brought up to date.
