Although they are correctly displayed as `\', they are actually understood as C-\. This has nasty side effects: - copy/paste result in C-\ instead of \ - C-s (isearch) will not find backslashes in the man page, unless you do search for C-\ (i.e., C-s C-q C-\). As an example, I ran woman perlsub, look for "thinks the root is" and observe that you can't isearch for the following \n, and that copying/pasting this \n gives C-\ n.
