Auto-save has a misleading name, it sounds like it saves to the original file. Might be a bit late to rename it, but the related variables and functions could use some clarifications in the doc strings. And Info node (emacs)Auto Save might mention "to another file" right up front, even if menu item "Files: Auto Save Files" is quite a clue if one does not read further. -- Regards, Hallvard
