Right, but you have done it at some point, so it's not fundamentally
impossible on that machine type. (This report is about Emacs 23.4.)


Related Debian bug reports show that the same issue has been seen in
22.3 and 23.1:

The 23.1 case was apparently fixed with some change to Debian's
binutils package.
