There are different use cases and expected/preferred
behaviors.  What Isearch+ does lets users specify
their overall preference, and it lets them change
the behavior on the fly (during Isearch).

Vanilla Emacs could provide similar flexibility.
(Or it can just hard-code one such behavior, as it
does now.)
