This funky behavior seems to happen to me too. One in every 20 posts
i post to gnu.emacs.bug never appear there. Though i don't recall
this happening for mails via report-emacs-bug..
(And my messages have been nice, legit. messages with no porn-binaries
attached ... and with 100% original content.. )
Happen to anyone else too? Is there a bug somewhere in the
newsgroup-administration?

FWIW, it never happened to me. However, I mostly send email messages to
bug.gnu.emacs, not post to the news group directly.

What administration?

I was wrong; it didn't disappear in cyberspace, it *did* actually crop up in
gnu.emacs.bug after 7 days, but since it took so long in the mean time
I thought it was gone.

i have seen this too for some of my posts, again mostly with g.e.bug
rather than other groups.

the concept of hooks is non-specific. emacs conventional hooks are for users,
but the report-emacs-bug-hook (function) serves the bug reporting mechanism
primarily. (this function is added to mail-send-hook, a normal hook.) in
this case, the function name is confusing because it ends in "-hook"; maybe it
is better to rename it report-emacs-bug-confirm-and-send, since that is what
it does.
the code snippet posted was added to this function rather than added as a new
hook. see emacsbug.el for more info.

Bug reports should always be posted by mail, not by net news.
That is more reliable for giving a valid way to reach you for
more information.
The maintainers always read the mailing list, not the newsgroup. I am
not sure whether we have a working gateway now from news to mail.

2) I sent a bug report last week with the built in "Send Bug Report"
command. I never saw it again, neither in email respons nor in
gnu.emacs.bug news.
I did not get such a message from you either, so I suspect it never
really got sent. Maybe there is a bug in how it sends mail on your
system. Could you try to investigate?

In my experience, the news->mail gateway works reasonably well.
Of course, sending bug reports via email is more reliable.
