I don't know if this is a bug in behavior or one in documentation, but it seems to me that C-l, recenter should center the window around the point in both the vertical AND the horizontal.

For quite some time I have a piece of code in my .emacs so that C-l centers both vertically and horizontally. I agree that not everybody will like such a feature so that it should be customizable.
