Why do you consider it experimental? Because you would like to experiment
more  to possibly extend it, or because there are currently problems with
it?

I see no problems with it. It has been around for years (in pretest versions
of Emacs 22) - at least since 2004, maybe longer.

Whether or not we might improve it in some future release is irrelevant
here, IMO. It is available in Emacs 22; it is useful; and it should be
documented. _Especially_ if you want user feedback that might help you
improve it.
