I think it's a bug in the info doc. Something as basic as search-forward
shouldn't do char folding by default. Char folding can be quite slow, and
search-forward must be suitable for programmatic use.
I want to make some of the higher level search commands respect
search-default-regexp-function (such as the searches you start from the
menu bar). But search-forward won't be one of them.
