Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug.  If you can, give
a recipe starting from `emacs -Q':

I've updated my emacs to this evenings CVS HEAD.  Since then the fonts
look very blurry.  I use the Xft backend with this ~/.Xdefaults
settings.

I also use this font in other applications, for example in the urxvt
terminal emulator.  But emacs is the only applications where the fonts
look blurry.

In parallel to the emacs update, I updated fontconfig from 2.7.2 to
2.8.0.  Maybe that's relevant.

Any ideas?  I'm happy to provide any informations you need.

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
For information about debugging Emacs, please read the file
/usr/share/emacs/23.1.50/etc/DEBUG.

No, I use the i3 window manager without any desktop environment.  But
gconf is installed, although I do non enable --with-gconf at the
configure options.

the computer.

Here's a shot of emacs with an open (detached) GTK menu, and on the
other side there's the gtk-demo app.

But I don't know if those are exactly the same fonts.  But I think it
should, because in my ~/.gtkrc-2.0 there is this entry.

BTW, this afternoon I update emacs, and now the font is a bit better,

Try again.  Now we just use fontconfig defaults, even if everybody doesn't 
like it.  You prefer HINT_FULL (default), but Angelo Graziosi does not.  If 
you don't like the defaults, you now have to change them in Xft/Fontconfig.

Sincerely I do not know if I prefer that... I never set that! but on 
K804 I find:

$ xrdb -query | grep Xft
Xft.antialias:  1
Xft.dpi:        96
Xft.hinting:    1
Xft.hintstyle:  hintfull
Xft.rgba:       none


Instead on K910, that command return anything,

$ xrdb -query | grep Xft
<empty>

There might be a gconf daemon running on your K804-machine or you have 
installed xsettings-kde.

On K804 'xsettings-kde' package does not exist! and on K910 it is not 
installed.

Regarding 'gconf daemon' I do not know: I installed some package 
relating gconf, *only* after these problems come out, and until one or 
two days ago, bootstrapping with or without gconf enabled didn't make 
any differences.

I will try new builds tonight.

With the build I did with CVS 20091114, all looks fine on both distros.
