Quite likely, but I'm not sure I'd consider my description a "problem".
AFAIK, xmonad doesn't have a concept of iconifying a frame by default,
so the current behaviour of suspend-frame seems fine to me.

Yes, all it takes is C-z.

The only way I know to "resume" the frame is to switch to another frame
and back again.
