I'm not quite sure what you mean here.  If I say

`M-x gdb RET gdb -i=mi src/emacs'

or

`M-x gdb RET gdb -i=mi'

and then

file src/emacs

in the gud buffer the result look identical to me.

Do you have a more complete recipe for how to reproduce this error?
