From cancelled to canceled took five iterations:

$ emacs
M-x flyspell-mode
cancelled ESC TAB ESC TAB ESC TAB ESC TAB ESC TAB
Corrections: can celled...
Corrections: can-celled
Corrections: cancel led
Corrections: cancel-led
Corrections: canceled
