I notice the modeline says BBB if I use emacs -nw, and -B if I use
emacs, all meaning big5 I presume.  It's bad that this differs.

The extra letters indicate additional coding-systems that are used on
ttys, namely the `terminal' (for output) and `keyboard' coding systems
(for input).
