With my full config, this "brief" display is roughly 2 > seconds. With emacs -Q it's a pretty quick flash. (I'm going through old bug reports that unfortunately weren't resolved at the time.) I'm unable to reproduce this with Emacs 29 (on Debian/bookworm).
