It would mean that you can't combine Lisp functions with external commands; for example my-lisp-function arg1 arg2 | my-cool-encoder *>output.ogg In this case, the first | needs to use Eshell's own pipelining support. Similarly something like buffer-string # | my-cool-command *| other-cmd *>file Does that make sense? Would you agree that this new feature needs to work only on individual pairs of commands? -- Sean Whitton
