I think it's intended, ➖ and ❌ are wide characters: (mapcar #'char-width '(?➖ ?❌ ?▶ ?✚ ?▷ ?◼)) ;=> (2 2 1 1 1 1) Although in my current font the width seems to be more like 1.8 or something.
