% gcc --version
gcc (Debian 4.9.0-7) 4.9.0
% make --version
GNU Make 4.0
Built for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
% ld -v
GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.24.51.20140617
The difference seems to be gcc. Version 4.9.0 seems to be the
default for the next release of Debian. Emacs still builds fine on the
released version, but will fail for anyone running testing or unstable,
as far as I can tell.
