Hello,

since a couple of days my master builds crash as soon as I switch to a
Linux console and back (Control+Meta+Function key), or plug in my
USB-Joystick. I get this output when plugging in my Joystick:

| emacs:2631815): dbind-WARNING **: 02:46:01.386: AT-SPI: Error retrieving accessibility bus address: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.a11y.Bus was not provided by any .service files

Never saw something like this before. Checking out master from a couple
of days ago and rebuilding fixes the issue (but I didn't try to
bisect).

Anyone who knows or can guess what is going on?

TIA,

Michael.

Some more info: This is with X and openbox. Emacs is the only program
that crashes. Plugging in an external USB hard drive does not crash
Emacs.

TIA,

Michael.

I've rebuild using "configure --with-x-toolkit=lucid " but the lucid
build also crashes. emacs -nw doesn't crash.

Michael.

Please show an actual backtrace generated by gdb.

Thanks.

Dunno if I tried that correctly - probably not:

| Reading symbols from emacs...
| SIGINT is used by the debugger.
| Are you sure you want to change it? (y or n) [answered Y; input not from termin\
| al]
| DISPLAY = :0
| TERM = dumb
| Breakpoint 2 at 0x18d028: file xterm.c, line 24407.
| (gdb) run
| Starting program: /home/micha/software/emacs/src/emacs
| During startup program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
| (gdb) xbacktrace
| You can't do that without a process to debug.
| (gdb) bt
| No stack.
| (gdb)

I always get "During startup program terminated" not matter how long I
wait.

In the second window I got this:

but that is probably not different from what I had posted initially.

Michael.

Try running "coredumpctl debug", and then "bt" from there.

Thanks.
