Subject: bug#8649: 24.0.50; Face customization interface broken
Date: Wed, 11 May 2011 10:36:34 +1000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <87aaeum5t9.fsf@une.edu.au> (raw)

This is observed with current emacs from BZR revno 104190 and running
as emacs -Q

When you do M-x customize-face, the standard high level custom interface
for setting font attributes is no longer used. Instead, you get a 'raw'
lisp expression without any of the normal custom widgests or extras,
such as the interactive lookup of face colours etc. i.e. what I see now is

Custom settings cannot be saved; maybe you started Emacs with `-q'.
For details, see Saving Customizations in the Emacs manual.

                                          Search

Operate on all settings in this buffer:
  Set for current session
Undo edits Reset to saved Exit

Hide Default face: [sample]
    State : STANDARD.
   Basic default face.
Lisp expression:
((t
(:family "DejaVu Sans Mono" :foundry "unknown" :width normal :height 143 :weight normal :slant normal :underline nil :overline nil :strike-through nil :box nil :inverse-video nil :foreground "black" :background "white" :stipple nil :inherit nil)))

touch of genius (and a lot of courage) to move in the opposite direction.
