I'm also using Debian/bullseye, and it doesn't misbehave for me:

Windowing system distributor 'The X.Org Foundation', version 11.0.12011000
System Description: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)
Looks pretty similar... but mine is with Gtk and yours is without?
(And of course a newer version of ksh etc, I guess.)
