I noticed that the Gnus registry makes a file called
".gnus.registry.eioio".

Considering that it holds EIEIO objects, it seems to me that the file is
misnamed. Rather than ".eioio" it should be ".eieio".

Not sure if this is worth fixing but I thought I'd point it out.

Nice catch on this typo!

Changing it will break users who already have a registry. I am also not
sure that it's worth fixing. If we do, maybe I should look for the
typo-name and offer to rename it?

Yeah, if you do fix the typo, offering to rename the existing file seems
like the friendliest thing to do.

Renaming the file might be problematic if you switch between older and
newer versions of Emacs, since older versions will still write files
with the old name.

I say just leave it alone. A registry file by any other name would
register just as sweetly.

Erm, this is already "fixed" in Gnus master -- it will look for the old
file name, and rename it to the new. You can always just pin it by
setting `gnus-registry-cache-file'.

Okidoke. Closing the bug report.

A patch already went in to do the renaming. I'm using emacs git master
and gnus prompted me and renamed the file a while ago.
