Subject: ange-ftp loops with -R from dired
Date: 22 Oct 2002 04:36:43 +0800 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <877kgbttpg.fsf@jidanni.org> (raw)
Some odd things I noted in an ange-ftp session log:
220 gis FTP server (Version wu-2.6.2-8) ready. ...
ftp> quote mdtm /
550 /: not a plain file.
quote mdtm /
ftp> 550 /: not a plain file.
ftp> ls "-alR /" /tmp/ange-ftp4259Av
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for directory listing.
Well, it seemed to take hours, while a simple ls -lRa from an old
fashioned by hand ftp session would have been a snap. So I closed the
connection and looked in /tmp/ange-ftp4259Av and low and behold,
in there was not ls -alR output, but instead ls -al output, repeated
1639 times!!! already in the kilobytes. So go find a wu-2.6.2-8 ftp
server [above pal's needed passwd, find another] and do C-u s R in dired.
