The effect is same as supplying this regexp directly: M-s h r \(?:m[=CC=81=CC=87=CC=A3]\|[m=E1=B5=90=E1=B8=BF=E1=B9=81=E1=B9=83= =E2=85=BF=E2=93=9C=EF=BD=8D=F0=9D=90=A6=F0=9D=91=9A=F0=9D=92=8E=F0=9D=93=82= =F0=9D=93=B6=F0=9D=94=AA=F0=9D=95=9E=F0=9D=96=92=F0=9D=97=86=F0=9D=97=BA=F0= =9D=98=AE=F0=9D=99=A2=F0=9D=9A=96]\) RET RET >> 3. C-s m (to isearch for "m") > > From within isearch, do the below Step 4. > >> 4. M-s h r enter (to highlight "m" with the default face) > > And this is what I get: http://i.imgur.com/ZaLpzID.png To avoid displaying this frightening regexp, you can type =E2=80=98C-u M-= s h u=E2=80=99. PS: Sorry for not removing "C-x w" bindings so far - I had no courage to = annoy the users of the existing bindings when they discover them not working an= ymore. At least, we could try to come up with a better justification for removal= , such as using "C-x w" for another feature.
