Turn off truncate-lines on your 300 char wide file on your 100 char
wide window.

Hold down the left mouse button and move the pointer rightwards along
a line of text.

Unlike holding down C-f, when we reach the right edge of the screen,
we are immediately snapped to the 300th column.

$ perl -wle 'print 1x111,2x111,3x111'>123
$ emacs -q --no-site-file 123
M-` o t
then moving the mouse along the line with the left button depressed,
showed... that if one was careful, one could still get to the middle
of the line... OK, Bug Excused: not so bad after all.
