On (info "(emacs) Single Shell") Please change:

By default, error output is intermixed with the regular output in the
output buffer. But if you change the value of the variable
‘shell-command-default-error-buffer’ to a string, error output is
< inserted into a buffer of that name.
> silently inserted into a buffer of that name. So be sure to check it for any.

I don't see any reason to add that word, as nothing in the manual says
or hints that the error output will be inserted "non-silently", or
that the buffer will be popped up by Emacs.

Closing.

All I know is initially all the output pops up. But if you put
some of it (STDERR) in a separate buffer the separate output doesn't pop
up.

It's just like saying, "If you don't like living with your parents, you
can stay in the guest house."

But they don't tell you that the guest house doesn't have electricity,
plumbing or heating.
