That's just too bad. AFAICS, we only ever set mouse_face_window to either nil or a window object. This case seems to imply that its value was neither, because clear_mouse_face verifies it's non-nil before calling show_mouse_face. Therefore, it's important to look at the contents of that object, because the only value other than nil or a window could be garbage, which would hint on some memory management problem. Or maybe I'm missing something.
