Has anyone had a chance to > look at this? Given what I read in the original bug report you pointed to, I'm not convinced it's an Emacs bug (or even that there is a bug at all). There's an opinion there at the end that this is "strictly an Emacs issue", but the example shown is the intended behavior: Emacs always gives the empty screen space after the line end the same face as the last character on the line. You can easily see that by shift-selecting text that spans more than one line. Thanks.
