The backtrace is at the end of his report. I still have the crashed temacs in GDB, so feel free to ask for more information. The crashed command was: ./temacs --batch -l loadup --temacs=bootstrap When it crashed the first time (for the same reason: invalid 'free' call), I removed all the *.elc files in the repository and ran "make" again, so this cannot be due to outdated *.elc files with invalid bytecodes. Also, all of the C sources were recompiled today after "git pull" without any problems. On a hunch, I've reverted the BLOCK_ALIGN change, per bug#61489, setting it back to 1024 -- and, lo and behold, the problem went away. Does anyone have any explanation why enlarging BLOCK_ALIGN breaks the unexec build? Maybe BLOCKSIZE in gmalloc.c needs an update? /* The allocator divides the heap into blocks of fixed size; large requests receive one or more whole blocks, and small requests receive a fragment of a block.
