AFAIU, your proposal will make this: ,---- | * A | TextA | * B | TextB `---- be displayed like this after hiding the bodies: ,---- | * A* B `---- because the newline will be hidden AFAIU, this is not what Org wants to display when the bodies of the headings are hidden.
