I opened a .c file, set hide-ifdef-initially to t, then turn on
hide-ifdef-mode. Lines bracketed by "#if 1" are hidden -- this
is not right.

This works around the problem, but hideif's expr evaluator should
be fixed so this case works without the workaround.

hideif.el:
change
(defvar hide-ifdef-env nil
to
(defvar hide-ifdef-env (list '(\1 t))

You might want to try the hideif.el from the CVS repository.
I've significantly improved its expression evaluator and
it should handle your example just fine.

The latest version 1.47 is too bleeding-edge --
hif-show-ifdef-region calls an undefined (in 21.3) function
remove-overlays.

Is that a way to emulate remove-overlays in 21.3? If there is,
will the rest of 1.47 work in 21.3?

Thanks.
