Menus (e.g. from the menubar) are appearing off screen. Using Fedora 25 in VirtualBox
5.1.22. with guest additions. There are a lot of gtk errors when opening
a menu. GTK error messages included below. This started with either
emacs 25 or Fedora 25 upgrade.

Looks bad. Hopefully this is covered by the fix for bug#25851, see

In Message#218 of that thread you can find a patch
(x_gtk_use_window_move.diff) I proposed for Emacs 25. If you can build
Emacs yourself, please try it.

Any reason not to push that patch? I don't see anyone answering your
requests in any of the related bugs, so unless you have reasons to
think this could cause trouble, let's resolve those bugs, and let
users report any fallout. These bugs are currently blocking the
release of Emacs 26.1.

That patch was for Emacs 25. Emacs 26 has it already incorporated for
quite some time. But I meanwhile doubt that it would resolve the menu
issue reported here. GTK 3.22 is still not widely used by Emacs
developers. Otherwise, we should have seen more problems after Philip's
changes for Bug#28189. It's an irony that people who do use GTK 3.22
like the OP of the present report and the one from Bug#25851 only build
Emacs 25.

Not unless someone running master with GTK 3.22 confirms that the
warnings are still there. For the moment this means that we should
remove the blocking (who put it there, BTW?) based on the assumption
that Philipp fixed these warnings already.

(I'm going through old bug reports that weren't resolved at the time.)
There was a flurry of these reports three to four years ago, and then
nothing (and I can't remember seeing any similar reports lately
myself). I've got gtk 3.24 installed on this machine, and I'm not able
to reproduce the issue, either.
Does anybody still experience these problems with recent Emacs/gtk
versions?

There wasn't any response in a month, so I guess this problem went away
at the time, and I'm therefore closing this bug report. If somebody's
still seeing this issue, opening a new bug report is probably the way
forward.
