Subject: bug#7573: 23.2; Info node Compilation is out of date
Date: Mon, 6 Dec 2010 15:14:26 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <50F3D326-81EA-4D8E-A243-413F9216D2BB@garethrees.org> (raw)
The Info node (emacs)Compilation says:
If you want to run two compilations at once, you should start the
first one, then rename the `*compilation*' buffer (perhaps using
`rename-uniquely'; *note Misc Buffer::), and start the other
compilation. That will create a new `*compilation*' buffer.
This is out of date (and hence ineffective). The docstring for the
compile command says instead:
To run more than one compilation at once, start one then rename
the `*compilation*' buffer to some other name with
M-x rename-buffer. Then _switch buffers_ and start the new compilation.
It will create a new `*compilation*' buffer.
The instruction to "switch buffers" in the docstring is missing from the
Info.
Just as a suggestion, I think that starting a second or subsequent
compilation in parallel is something that's common enough that it
deserves its own command.
