I don't think it's relevant, nor do I think there's any need for Cygwin-specific code in emacs to deal with this. As I understand it, this is a filesystem problem: Samba returns a fake SID to Windows, so Cygwin can't determine the correct uid/gid. Jari, you were already told on the Cygwin list how to work around this problem. Why not just do it? Ken
