Here are the steps to reproduce it: wget http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/emacs/emacs-23.2.tar.gz tar -xf emacs-23.2.tar.gz mkdir build cd build ../emacs-23.2/configure make cd src ./emacs -Q M-x help The result is the error message "Wrong type argument: stringp, nil". I would appreciate it if someone could try this on another system so that I'll know if it's a Cygwin problem. Ken
