Works for me with GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600) of 2009-07-30 
on SOFT-MJASON

Perhaps you need to update your version of libpng?

Could it be that you are in fact using the version that was reported? 
Emacsclient doesn't care about versions, if it finds a server it will 
use it.
