Subject: bug#63365: 30.0.50; GCC 13.1 breaks building Emacs with native-compilation
Date: Thu, 1 Jun 2023 09:31:26 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <3C16E19D-FB9F-4EEF-85C2-8A6643663E25@gmail.com> (raw)
In-Reply-To: <83h6rxhrmd.fsf@gnu.org>

MSYS2 might have run into a related problem. Currently Emacs 28.2 cannot be built on the Github Actions CI with GCC 13.1 and native comp enabled because the build gets stuck during native compilation of files.el (all the other elisp files are compiled). I’ve attached a backtrace from the CI.

Meanwhile several people reported successfully building Emacs on their own machines from the same MSYS2 that runs in the CI. There’s a discussion on Github [1]. Downgrading to GCC 12.2 helps, and we’re still investigating the effects of various compiler switches.
