I'll do a rebuild without Cairo tomorrow

How do I do that? *info* suggests that evaluating

(setq imagemagick-types-inhibit t)
(imagemagick-register-types)

in scratch should do it but they're still coming up as imagemagick in
the mode line (and still garbled)
