I alway get this warning on launching Emacs on Mac OS X 10.8.2:

Probably you should find whichever of the files you load that contain
`unibyte: t' and change it/them to use "coding: 'raw-text" instead.

The warning is issued _by_ the mule.el library, it is not _about_ the
mule.el library.
A simple grep should find the offending file(s) in no time at all.
