I recently installed Emacs 23.2 after using Emacs 21.3 for several years. I had set up Emacs 21.3 to start up in the C: directory but had forgotte= n how I had done that. I searched the info nodes in vain for several days looking for the information that I knew I had seen somewhere. Finally after making an inquiry on the MS Windows Emacs help mailing list I foun= d the location on the EmacsWiki site on the MsWindowsInstallation page (http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/MsWindowsInstallation) under the heading= SETTING UP EMACS ON MS-WINDOWS. Please consider adding information to the MS Windows info node about the= Emacs start directory as it applies to running Emacs in the MS Windows environment especially when starting Emacs using a shortcut. Please incl= ude information about setting the start directory using the 'Start in:' fiel= d in the shortcut properties of a shortcut used to invoke Emacs. No crash to report.
