Subject: bug#7300: 23.2; MS Windows directory where Emacs starts
Date: Thu, 28 Oct 2010 20:30:13 GMT	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20101028.153013.22867.0@webmail02.dca.untd.com> (raw)

This is a report of a documentation deficiency as opposed to an operation bug.

I recently installed Emacs 23.2 after using Emacs 21.3 for several
years.
I had set up Emacs 21.3 to start up in the C: directory but had forgotten how
I had done that. I searched the info nodes in vain for several days
looking for the information that I knew I had seen somewhere. Finally
after making an inquiry on the MS Windows Emacs help mailing list I found
the location on the EmacsWiki site on the MsWindowsInstallation page
(http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/MsWindowsInstallation) under the heading
SETTING UP EMACS ON MS-WINDOWS.
Please consider adding information to the MS Windows info node about the
Emacs start directory as it applies to running Emacs in the MS Windows
environment especially when starting Emacs using a shortcut. Please include
information about setting the start directory using the 'Start in:' field in the
shortcut properties of a shortcut used to invoke Emacs.

No crash to report.
